Washington Needs a Commission on Boys and Men

Blair Daly Volunteers with UW Medicine To Promote Men’s Health at Husky Football Game Vs. Oregon

Blair Daly of Washington Initiative for Boys and Men teamed up with UW Medicine today prior to the Huskies’ dramatic win over the Oregon Ducks. At the University of Washington’s fan festival before the game, men’s health was the topic du jour at UW Medicine’s booth. Others who staffed the booth included Hunter Wessels, Chair of the UW Department of Urology and President of UW Physicians, and Jennifer Blume, Director for Philanthropy with UW Medicine Advancement.

Those working the booth distributed cards with guidelines showing at what ages men should carry out which types of screenings and checkups. They also handed out flyers for the Real Talk on Men’s Health event being held on Wednesday, October 25. The event is 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Seattle campus of Temple De Hirsch Sinai (1511 E. Pike St).

In addition to men’s health information, UW Medicine gave away swag items like hand sanitizer and bandage travel packs.

The matchup between Washington and Oregon, two teams ranked in the top ten nationally, ended with a score of 36 to 33 after the Ducks missed a game-tying 43-yard field goal at the end of the 4th quarter.
