WIBM provides public advocacy for the well-being and equal treatment of boys and men
Video transcript, lightly edited:
There is a major lack of organizations that provide public advocacy for the well-being and equal treatment of boys and men. That’s where Washington Initiative for Boys and Men comes in. We’re a blog, and we also produce content on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter.
I brought print-outs of the first page of a variety of my blog posts. Please come take a look. I try to write my content so that you can read the headline and the first few sentences and get the gist of the story or problem that I’m calling attention to.
What I do is write a mix of positive stories – ones that help increase our empathy and our appreciation for what boys and men contribute to society – and also those sadder negative stories that criticize ways in which we’re actively discriminating against boys and men or passively discriminating by not paying anywhere near an equal amount of attention to ways in which males are suffering.
Example of an uplifting story: ‘It still blows my mind’ – Touching story of a dad who stuck around despite the circumstances (Video)
It’s really a goal of mine to fill up my email list today, so please come see me and share your email address. I send about one email per week with the latest blog post or video WIBM has published. I also have business cards to hand out that have my email address and social media handles.
I appreciate this opportunity to speak to you, and I look forward to meeting more of you.
